Ricci speaks with a forked tongue

Oh wow, things are going well for Nikon! And they introduced the new Z6 III. All the YouTubers immediately rush out with the most stupid, often boring, and dumb summaries of specification sheets.

It's nice and great that Nikon is doing so well again. The introduction some time ago of the new Z6 III, was is immediately presented as the new holy grail. And that's a bit of an exaggeration. Because not that much has changed at all. I just jumped off the couch to run straight to my computer, where I am now. I was watching a video on YouTube from Ricci Talks. And that man says such strange things... He's really not right in the head or listens too closely to Nikon. But even that I doubt.
One thing already caught my eye from the official specifications that were released yesterday. Actually two, but let's keep it simple. The new Nikon Z6 III has the brightest viewfinder in the whole world!!! What on earth am I supposed to do with that? With all my Nikon cameras, the viewfinder and LCD display are already turned down to -2 or -1. Because they are otherwise too bright. And then what you see doesn't match what you're going to make. The final photo, that is. With all brands and cameras, the viewfinder and LCD display are always too bright. That ensures that if your viewfinder and your LCD display are not set correctly, you can be disappointed with your final exposure. In fact, if the viewfinder and screen are set too bright, the chance is very high that you will underexpose. Precisely because it is so bright.
And then Nikon thought, let's release an extremely bright screen. 4000 nits bright. That's very bright, I can tell you. A gaming monitor gets to 1000 nits, but that's still four times brighter. And gamers are not known for striving for nuanced images if they can only see them well. And quickly, please.
Ricci Talks, basically the official outlet for Nikon USA, talks with love about Nikon and repeats all the written marketing specs even more boringly than they seem on paper, but he did have an explanation for the extremely bright viewfinder. Because then you can photograph more easily with your sunglasses on!!!! I suspect it can also be done with welding goggles. I had to piss in my pants when he was saying this. Photography with your sunglasses on.
If you say this, then you are... whatever that may be, really completely out of it. An extremely bright viewfinder because you can then photograph with your sunglasses on or if you have vision-correcting lenses. In one simple sentence, he indicates that he is completely incompetent. Just saying what Nikon USA wants him to say and collect the money. From Nikon and YouTube. Knowing or seeing nothing of brightness, colors, and correct exposures. Then it just doesn't make sense to keep looking further. It's complete nonsense. Nikon should have come as the first brand in the world with a screen and a viewfinder that can be calibrated. That would have been news. But if you look like Ricci, you never have any trouble with that. The screens should be less bright, because they are always coming out of the factory too bright.
That the Nikon has a partially stacked image sensor..... Yeah, so what? What is the advantage compared to the Nikon Z6 II? That's too much effort to explain or to show. You can't score viewers with that on YouTube. But you can shoot 120 frames per second. Wow, how cool! I really don't need that at all. And who actually needs it? The Nikon Z6-III also gives a very fast readout. Well, cool man, thanks Ricci. Very good information. But what's the advantage? Because I also know a number of very big disadvantages.
He has been photographing with the camera for months. Also nonsense. I have worked at Nikon. The first production cameras are only just finished now. Why make yourself more important than you are? Oh yes, for the viewers. Then Ricci must be a really cool guy if he's been allowed to photograph with the Z6-III for months and we haven't. It's just a shame that he keeps his sunglasses on while photographing. And basically, through his super-stupid sunglasses remark, he lays down a certificate of incompetence.
Because with sunglasses on, whatever colors the lenses may have in them, you can never see the Nikon marketing story shown above. Let alone see it well. And assessing the colors and white balance with sunglasses on is also very difficult, I can tell you.
So, with this, once again, a little bit of opposition. Yes, I'm very fond of the Nikon brand, I've worked there, and I use it with pleasure. The Nikon Z6-III is not fundamentally different from the Z6-II. The changes that are in it are not the most necessary. The possibility to calibrate the screen and viewfinder, that would have been truly unique. And that is really very much needed. Because there is no brand that does this well.
So, you're completely up to date. And I'm writing this to be able to distinguish the wheat from the chaff. And Ricci, like many others, is a YouTube gentleman who can easily earn his money in an easy way without any knowledge. Don't believe them. This is a good example of that. Lack of knowledge always comes to the surface at some point. Talking about it is something entirely different from being able to use it. And then really use it well. He is a Nikon ambassador and that is his good right. But… speak honest about products. And don't exaggerate or lie. Is it really just about the money?
